We are delighted to invite you to hear from the University of Edinburgh's recently-installed Rector, Simon Fanshawe. Simon is a distinguished public figure with an enormous range of achievements in fields such as comedy, writing, broadcasting and gay rights activism. He also brings a wealth of experience in university governance, which in 2013 was recognised in the award of an OBE for services to higher education. Edinburgh Academics for Academic Freedom were proud to support his nomination for the post of Rector earlier this year.
Simon will be in conversation with Dr Donna Murray from the University's Institute of Academic Development, and with undergraduate student of English Literature Freddy Lowe. We know the conversation will be fascinating and entertaining. There will be plenty of time for audience questions and interaction.
As with all of our events, we welcome contributions from attendees with a range of views, and we encourage lively discussion. We ask that attendees read and adhere to the University of Edinburgh's Dignity and Respect Policy.
You will need to bring with you some form of identification (e.g. University staff or student card, or bank card) in the name under which you booked: ID will be checked at the door. Please try to avoid bringing larger bags and luggage items (over A4 size) and be aware that bags may be subject to search.
This event is open to everyone, whether or not they are a member of the University of Edinburgh. Should it become fully booked, staff and students who sign up to the waiting list with a University of Edinburgh email address will be given priority in the allocation of returned tickets.
