In conversation with Jo Phoenix
Tue 30 Apr 2024 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Gordon Aikman Lecture Theatre, EH8 9LH
Description
In January of this year, the Phoenix Employment Tribunal Judgement found that Professor Jo Phoenix was discriminated against, harassed, and wrongfully constructively dismissed by the Open University because of her gender-critical beliefs. Edinburgh Academics for Academic Freedom are delighted to welcome Professor Phoenix to the University of Edinburgh for this event which will explore what universities can learn from the Phoenix Judgement. Professor Jeanette Findlay (Glasgow University and current President of UCU Scotland) will join us in a personal capacity as conversant. There will be plenty of time for audience questions and discussion.
As with all of our events, we welcome contributions from attendees with a range of views, and we encourage robust, good-faith discussion and debate. We ask that attendees read and adhere to the University of Edinburgh's Dignity and Respect Policy.
You will need to bring with you some form of identification (e.g. University staff or student card, or bank card) in the name under which you booked: ID will be checked at the door. Please try to avoid bringing larger bags and luggage items (over A4 size) and be aware that bags may be subject to search.
